People Around The Church Asking for Money

The police recommend that when you are confronted by a person asking you for money, a very good response is to immediately say “no” and to keep moving. If the person persists, repeat your response of “no” but briefly communicate to them that you will make a contribution to help support the work of Catholic Charities or the Union Gospel Mission or the Naomi Center and will pray for them. Individuals in need should be referred to these places. Finally if you feel threatened in any way and you are carrying your cell phone, call 911 and report the incident. At no time should you ever reach into your wallet or purse.
