Marilyn Biery

Biography
Marilyn Biery has been a church musician nearly all her life; her first performing experiences occurred in her father's church in Sandwich, IL. Since then she has worked in numerous denominations as organist and choir director. Her main interests are: organ playing, writing hymn and anthem texts, reading books by Frederick Buechner, singing, conducting, getting to know composers and their music, interacting with her teenager, riding her bicycle around the Twin Cities and preparing (and eating) interesting food. She is Associate Director of Music at the Cathedral of St. Paul, a job she has shared with James Biery since 1996. She is a Pi Kappa Lambda graduate of Northwestern University with a B.M. and M.M. in organ and church music; she attended the University of CT for doctoral studies in choral conducting, and completed her doctorate in organ at the University of MN in 1999. From 1986-1996 she was Director of Music Ministries at the First Church of Christ in Hartford, CT. She has been active in the American Guild of Organists, and served for five years as Director of the National Young Artist Competition in Organ Playing. Her texts and music are published by MorningStar, GIA, Alliance, Concordia, Oregon Catholic Press and Augsburg; a series of articles on American Organ Music has been published in The American Organist. She is editor of the new Concert Organ Series at MorningStar.
Kristina Langlois
Westwood Lutheran Church, St. Louis Park

Biography
Kristina Langlois has been the Director of Music and Worship at Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park, MN, since 2000, and Organist there since 1993. She administers an extensive choral and instrumental music program within the context of liturgical worship. Before coming to Westwood, Dr. Langlois taught music courses and Organ at Hamline University and served as Director of Music at Hamline United Methodist Church in St. Paul.
Kristina earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master of Church Music degree from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois; and she completed her Doctor of Music degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Her organ teachers have been Thomas Gieschen, Herbert Gotsch, and Wolfgang Rübsam.
Professional activities include service on various Twin Cities/AGO committees as well as two years as Dean of the Twin Cities AGO Chapter. She has served as adjudicator in numerous AGO/Schubert Club sponsored organ competitions. She has performed organ recitals in Chicago, the Twin Cities, and in Germany. Dr. Langlois teaches piano and organ privately; and her hymn settings are published by MorningStar Music Publications.
David Saunders

Biography
David E. Saunders, a native of Perrysburg, Ohio, began his organ studies as a freshman at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He completed his sophomore juries there, and transferred to Western Michigan University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in music and a minor in religion, cum laude. He later earned a Master of Music in Organ performance from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. Additionally, he holds a Certificate in Litigation Management from the Philadelphia Institute for Paralegal Studies. His teachers have included Haskell Thompson, the late Kathryn Loew, E. Robert Irwin and Vernon Wolcott. Currently, David is a doctoral pre-candidate in the Church Music program at the University of Michigan, and is a student of Marilyn Mason. In May of 2001, David made his first European recital appearance together with several graduates of the University of Michigan and Dr. Mason, playing at the cathedrals of St. Rémy-de-Provence and Chartres. He returned to St.-Rémy last August to participate in a seminar on ornamentation performance practice, led by Jean-Pierre LECAUDEY, and was featured in a recital given by the students. Mr. Saunders currently serves as organist for St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea, Michigan.
Raymond Johnston
St. Mark's Cathedral, Minneapolis

Biography
Raymond Johnston was born in Kent, England, and is a graduate of Cambridge University, having been Organ Scholar at Peterhouse where he read for a degree in Music and studied organ with Dr. Peter Hurford.
After graduating in 1984 he spent the next five years as a freelance accompanist, recitalist, choir trainer and music teacher. Appointed Assistant Director of Music at Ellesmere College in 1990, he moved to Worcester as Assistant Organist at the Cathedral in September 1991.
During his time at Worcester Cathedral he developed his career as an organist and conductor performing in the UK, Europe, South Africa and the USA. He appeared regularly as accompanist and soloist with the Cathedral Choir on radio, television and commercial recordings and conducted at the 1993 Three Choirs' Festival. During this time he was also a member of the music staff at The King's School, Worcester and musical director of the Cathedral Voluntary Choir.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and, since December 2000, Director of Music at St. Mark's Cathedral, Minneapolis.
Timothy Short
First Lutheran Church, Columbia Heights

Biography
Timothy Short is Associate Organist at First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights, and a freelance artist in the Twin Cities as an organist and accompanist. His musical training includes a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mount Union College, and a Master of Music degree in performance from Drake University where he was a University Fellow. During the weekdays he works for Wells Fargo as a trust administrator.
