The present Church
of Saint Louis was built in 1909, the third site of worship established
by the French Canadians in the river town of St. Paul.
Designed by renowned
French architect Emmanuel Masqueray, the extraordinary attributes of the
Church of Saint Louis have become more cherished with each generation.
Though Masqueray
designed structures with more grandeur, such as the Cathedral of St. Paul,
historians believe that he was particularly fond of the building he called
his "little gem."
